![]() In the later moments of BB2016, I’ve come to have a lot of fun with the orc passing game. A pair of gobbos hover nearby to keep Miggy inline with the playbook. Probably my favorite of the Big Guy models from recent years. With the hand replacement and lead foot reposition, I like this model quite a bit. Originally molded with a goblin in hand to throw, this mini is pretty divisive in the community. Our troll Miggy is a converted BB16 plastic troll with a hand replacement so he’s got a nice balled fist ready to knock an opponent really stupid. Perhaps the Badlands Blitz are a premier orc team and are treated to the finest kits available? The models are certainly cleaner, and maybe that’s not the first trait one associates with orcs, but for my aging eyes and looking at models at arms length at the table, I prefer the cleaner aesthetic. It wasn’t bad, but I didn’t feel like the models ‘popped’ as well as my older team did.Ĭleaning up the chipped armour and going back to the old-school green rings felt a lot better. There was something about this palette that wasn’t sitting well with me though. The plan was for the new team to stand on earth-brown ringed bases as was popular in the 00s and have paint chipped armour. I originally started the new team about a year and a half ago, beginning with the Black Orc Blockers (now called Big ‘Uns in the even newer Blood Bowl 2020 Ruleset). I simply re-based them on larger 32mm round bases to better match the new team. They were both slightly larger than the older 28mm models anyway and fit in well with the new squad. Two models have survived the transition to the new version of the franchise, the chainsaw loony player on the left and the beer swilling coach on the right. I liked these models a lot, but as the new game came at a new scale it gave me the opportunity to put paint to plastic again. They’ve accumulated the most casualties as well as taking home a best dressed award. A rowdy bunch of bois who have ended up with more than one piece of celebratory hardware in their trophy case. Now, with tournaments starting to resume again, I decided it was time to finally lace up and charge the pitch.Ībove is the original Badlands Blitz kit. Having not been too involved in the larger Blood Bowl community in recent years, the reboot of my teams in the newer 32mm was put on the bench. With that release, I decided to sell off my old teams and adapt to the new scale. I did an article about just that, why you should be playing Blood Bowl. When Blood Bowl was finally revived in 2016, it was reborn in a slightly larger scale from the models I had been coaching on the field for over 25 years. I’m proud of my work here and I hope you enjoyed the pictures!Īlso, if you aren’t playing Blood Bowl then you really should be. This is the first Blood Bowl team I’ve painted up and I will no doubt have more teams to do in the future as I love so many of them. I’ve had a lot of fun working on the team, but it’s always nice to finish a project too. I did a painting tutorial for him as well which shows how I did all the armor and everything as well. ![]() The Ogre was a model I had picked up from a third party. I tried to make each model a bit different, be it through the painting in some way, or by adding little details like the purity seals. I do have a tutorial on battle damage and weathering if you’d like to see how I did this. Clean looking Blood Bowl teams aren’t as interesting in my opinion. I had never done so much damage and weathering on such a scale (so many models) but I’m really glad I did.Īs a whole I just wanted something grimy and gritty with this team. I was skeptical it would come out the way I wanted, but I feel it worked. ![]() I also worked in some grass stains and dirt for the overall effect. I think the little scuffs, scratches, and damage really give some nice detail and make the team feel like they’re in the middle of a game, which was the goal. I’m really happy with the results of this team. Still, I think they look good enough for game markers. I wasn’t up for more blending at that point. ![]() I was a worn out after finishing the team itself, so I just stuck to pure golds on the tokens for simpleness. ![]()
